#first. Introducing VMWare Fusion

Surely many readers here are not new to the extremely professional virtual machine creation software called VMWare Workstation, right?

I also had a long time fighting with her, which is to install Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and also Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian … again. And finally, install macOS on VMWare before actually switching to use Macbook as it is now.

Looking at the names you probably already know, Fusion and Workstation are two famous virtual machine software developed by VMWare, so Fusion inherits all the most advanced technology of VMWare equipped on. Workstation.

The functions and features of these 2 software are similar, except that VMWare Fusion for macOS, and VMWare Workstation only supports Windows. That's all 🙂

You may not know, on macOS, virtual machine creation software is no less abundant than Windows, we have the extremely famous Parallels, Oracle's Virtualbox, or even Microsoft VirtualPC, … but I still The choice of VMWare Fusion is for the following reasons:

// This comparison does not have Parallels because it is a fairly expensive paid software!

  1. VMWare Fusion is easy to use: Yes, if you are familiar with VMWare Workstation on Windows, I think you will not have much trouble switching to using Fusion on macOS.
  2. Quick VMWare Fusion: Since on hand Oracle Corp, VirtualBox has degraded quite a lot, the same operating system, the same amount of resources, and the same computer, of course, VMWare WorkStation and Fusion will bring a higher level of performance than the competition.
  3. Stable VMWare Fusion: I have experienced this a few times, on VirtualBox I have encountered a lot of silly errors but since I switched to VMWare Fusion / Workstation, it is much less, even not. It shows that the software of VMWare is extremely stable.

#2. What to prepare?

Then, before entering the installation process, you need to prepare the .ISO file of Windows 10 or the operating system you want to install, you can download the original Windows installer here or here!

Next is the VMWare Fusion software, make sure you have to install this software on your Macbook to follow this guide.

Because this is a paid software, you only have to buy the copyright, or go online to find the copyright to be shared with the community only 😛

But in this article, we will only install Windows 10 from the existing .ISO file only.

In the window Select the Installation Method below you keep the options Install from disc or image => and then press Continue to start the virtual machine creation process.

This is where you can set up everything about this virtual machine, such as virtual machine name, disk space, network configuration, graphics settings, RAM, CPU, USB, Printer … in general is everything. How to adjust then I probably do not need anymore because it is too intuitive and simple already.

Only note the RAM for you is that if your computer has 8 GB of RAM, you should only leave a maximum of 3GB RAM for virtual computers.

In case if you have created this window does not appear, or anytime you want to open it => you just need to click on the wrench as I drew the arrow in the image.

Wait a moment for the virtual machine to boot into the Windows 10 installer and you will see this familiar Windows 10 installation screen.

The process of installing Windows 10 on a virtual machine I will not guide anymore because it is no different from installing on a real machine: Also choose the Windows version, agree to terms, format the hard drive, … in general, it is very simple and Basically, you guys can do it yourself. If you do not know, you can review the article step by step installing Windows 10!

Installation time is also very fast because most of the MacBook, iMac later use high-end SSD rather than HDD so you do not have to worry about this issue.

+ Step 8: Install VMWare Tools for the virtual machine

But as you know, if you leave this as default, it is really not convenient at all, because it may be very laggy, unable to stretch the virtual machine window to full screen, moreover you also Can't share files between real and virtual machines with each other …

So, next we have to install VMWare Tools for VMWare Fusion virtual machine.

Perform: You open the virtual machine => then hover outside the virtual machine => and then click Virtual Machines on the bar Menubar of macOS => and select the line Install VMWare Tools as usual.

windows-10-on-your-own-clothes-macos (12)
