How to deactivate plugins properly in WordPressAre you looking for an appropriate way to deactivate plugins in WordPress? Plugins are an important part of making WordPress the best platform for building websites, but sometimes you need to turn off the plugin.

This is for a variety of reasons, but the good news is that it's easy to deactivate a plugin.

In addition to deactivating, you also have the option to completely remove this tool. However, it is important to make them different.

Here, I would like to present how to deactivate plugins at WordPress by many methods.

Why deactivate plugins in WordPress?

The plugin adds features to WordPress that it doesn't have by default or enhances the features it has. If the plugin does this, why would anyone want to deactivate them?

There are many reasons why you need to deactivate a plugin at any time.

For newbies, most plugins are competitive. While it's common to test multiple plugins, most will interfere with each other.

For example, most security plugins will interfere with each other and then they will use countless resources. So you'll want to check each one and then turn them off making it easy to do.

The reason is clearer than just turning off the plugin. Sometimes things are not as expected. You realize that a new plugin or functional update on your website has caused the website to stop working or slow down.

Disabling the plugin until the problem is resolved or you delete it is the best course of action.

Disable a Plugin without deleting it

The big misconception is that disabling a plugin is like removing it, but this is not true. In fact, disabling the plugin is equivalent to turning it off.

For example, when you finish watching TV, turn it off. Did you throw the TV out? Is not. However, if you took the TV and put it in the trash, you put it.

The plugin works the same way. When they are disabled, they will turn off. But with just one click, they will be re-enabled.

It is very bad habit to keep the plugin disabled for long periods of time. Unfortunately, the internet is not the safest place. Hackers find ways to get inside websites, they like the back door.

The disabled plugin file makes it perfect for hackers. You do not use the plugin, so you will not look in the file. However, you would not think the file is still there. Therefore, not removing this file is a huge security issue.

If you have disabled plugins for a long time, then they should always be installed for automatic updates. This helps reduce security threats.

In addition to security concerns, they also increase website backup size, which makes you spend a lot of money in the long run. The long story, if you don't use plugins, turn it off and then remove it.

When disabling plugins, you have two options at WordPress. You can deactivate all at once or use batch action to perform it. I will prove both ways.

To deactivate the plugin, click the Deactivate option under the plugin name. The plugin will be disabled immediately.

Method 2: PHPMyAdmin

Unfortunately, there are things that you will be locked out of the website. Worse still, the plugin is responsible for locking the device. This poses a problem with the previous method.

You need to be logged into your WordPress admin area to do so. However, this method can still be used even without access to the admin area.

It is very important to clarify that all plugins at the website will be disabled. Next, you access the website and activate what you want.

Login to cPanel website to get started. Login information is provided to you by the web server.

In the Database section, click PHPMyAdmin.

On the left side of the screen, you need to click on the website database. Once in the database, you need to locate the table wp_options. In this case, it is labeled wpx4_options.

In the wp_options table, specify the name of the active_plugins option. You can scroll through the list to locate or use CTRL + F to search for it.

How to uninstall the Plugin

The problem is that if the plugin has locked you out of the website, you will delete it. It is also good with website security to remove any unused plugins.

You will now have access to the website, click on Plugin, then select the Installed Plugin option. Under the disabled plugin name, click the Delete option. A confirmation message will appear that you will need to confirm.

This will uninstall the plugin from the website. You reinstall and then enable it to use at any time.

It should be noted that even if the plugin is uninstalled, it is likely that it leaves a trace. For most plugins, it will be a file, a table, or a shortcode. In most cases, you can safely ignore them, but it is worth mentioning that they will add to the backup size.

If you need additional help removing files and shortcodes, you'll learn how to install the plugin in the right way to guide you through the process.
